Treatwell alternative: booking software with no new-client commission
Compare Treatwell Connect and Calendia on price, the 35% new-client commission and features, and see when each is the better fit for your salon or spa.
Looking for a Treatwell alternative? Treatwell is Europe's largest beauty marketplace in many countries, and its software, Treatwell Connect, is cheap. The catch is the new-client commission: in the UK it is 35% + VAT on a client's first booking through Treatwell. Calendia has no marketplace and takes no commission on any booking, but it does not bring you marketplace traffic either. This article compares both honestly.
What does Treatwell cost?
Treatwell operates in about 15 countries across Europe and has merged with Uala (2022) and acquired Salonized (2024). Plans vary by country. According to the UK partner pages (checked October 2026, excluding VAT):
- Connect Freelancer: £9.99 per month.
- Connect Advanced: £24.99 per month, with an unlimited team.
- Expert: £59 per month, with a 14-day trial.
- Marketplace commission (UK and Belgium): 35% + VAT on a new client's first booking through Treatwell. It is 0% for repeat clients and for bookings through your own website, widget, Google or social channels. A client counts as new if you have not served them via Treatwell in the past 365 days.
- Online prepayments: 2.5% + VAT (UK).
Outside the UK, check the rate for your country on Treatwell's partner pages.
What does Calendia cost?
Calendia has two billing models, and you choose one:
- Per bookable employee: a fixed monthly price for each person who takes bookings. Staff who never take bookings are free.
- Per completed booking: a small fee per completed appointment. Cancellations and no-shows are not charged.
There is no commission, no setup fee and no binding period. The trial has every feature and needs no card. See current prices on the pricing page, where a calculator compares both models. Prices are shown excluding VAT.

When is Treatwell the better choice?
- You need a large consumer marketplace to fill your calendar, for example a new salon or spa with few existing clients.
- You want cheap software tiers, such as the UK freelancer plan.
- Most of your growth comes from the marketplace and you are happy to pay 0% on repeat and own-channel bookings while accepting the first-booking fee.
- You are in Germany and want a till with a TSE option from the same vendor.
When is Calendia the better choice?
- Most of your clients find you through word of mouth, Instagram, Google or your own site, so a first-booking commission buys little.
- You want your costs to be predictable, without a percentage of your best new bookings.
- You run a clinic or spa and need journals, consent forms, care-team scoping and access logging next to your calendar.
- You want gift cards, stamp-card loyalty, memberships, accounting integrations and win-back campaigns in one system.
